REVIEW: “Superman: Secret Identity”

Superman: Secret Identity is the kind of book that you want to review as soon as you get to the last page, because you just have to tell people how great it is. Busiek’s commitment to storytelling combined with Immonen’s marvelous art gives us a heartfelt book about having superpowers in “our world” – where superheroes already exist as fictional characters.

The Clark Kent of our story is a born-and-bred human, who hails from a small town in Kansas and was named after his “fictional” counterpart because his parents thought it

Batman V Superman Weekend Box Office Result

Despite being criticized brutally by critics, scoring 29% on rotten tomatoes, 44% on metacritic, the general audience reviews are still quite favorable, 73% on rotten tomatoes and  7.5/10 on Imdb.

Batman V Superman has been dominating the box office with a Domestic Total as of Mar. 27, 2016: $170,100,000 (Estimate) and if it can maintain this triumph, it success will reach its targeted goal which is around a billion, anything less will be considered a loss by WB.

The cast of the film have claimed it to be an audience film rather than critical. Henry Cavill who starred as Superman said “The interesting thing is that we get the critics who have their personal opinions. And the thing about personal opinions is that they always come from a place. And there’s a preconceived idea which you have to get past a critic before you start writing your article or your review, and that affects everything. What is really going to matter, I believe, is what the audience says. Because they’re the ones who are buying tickets, they’re the ones who want to see more of this kind of story or not and so the audience’s voice is loudest and after this weekend the audience, at least partly, will have spoken.

Co-star Amy Adams added: “I know that Zack [Snyder] doesn’t make the movies – or none of us – are making the movies for the critics. You can’t go into it with that perspective. I know we really hope the fans like it and so far the reaction has been really positive on that front. If you’re interested in a film you should see it and form your own opinion rather than just going on the word of somebody [else].

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Review

bvs_superfight_wpw.jpg

Did I like it? Yes
Did I have a good time? Yes
Were there issues? Yes
Can they be ignored? Hmm, kind of, nope(?), nope
Do they really really taint the experience in general? Well, no, but at times yeah
Yes I’m a DC fan, but no I didn’t watch it as a fanboy (t̶o̶t̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶d̶i̶d̶)
Yeah there are problems, they were quite evident, I could see what some critics meant, but in general the movie didn’t deserve the rating you’re seeing on RT right now. This was at least a 70%.
In my opinion where WB really really really fucked up was with the trailers, they showed WAY TOO MUCH and i’m not saying the movie doesn’t have more material, but some of the good scenes are in the trailer, the marketing was piss poor.

Let me first talk about the things I liked about this movie.

The Score: Hans Zimmer you genius, this movie has an amazing score, every character had his/her soundtrack, you could feel it shifting with the change of scene and character, great fight music as well.

The opening credits and intro: The way this movie opens plays a big role in the overall film, I’m not gonna spoil it but I think the opening was done very well, shot great. Plus the whole Man of steel scene we see through Bruce’s perspective was explosive, haunting and well shot great shit.

Batman and also Superman : Alot of people are praising Affleck for being an awesome batman, which I fully agree with, the guy’s insane, brutal, doesn’t give a shit, feels very arkham-y when it came to the fight scenes and I really like this new take on batman, minus one teensy bit which i’m not gonna spoil but do believe has already been spoiled for everyone so yeah, Superman was great too, he had his moments, he was what he should be, I shit you not, Cavil owned the role, you can see how well he’s matured from MoS.

The action in general: The action was great, all the fight scenes were done beautifully, the crowd was pretty vocal at most of the film but during the “BvS” and the final encounter with doomsday, everyone lost their shit and you know what, it made sense, it was epic. This movie is a treat to watch, Snyder is a visual director, he isn’t strong on the plot but gets the action right.

Wonder Woman: WW was great, the crowd lost it when she appeared and her fight scenes were awesome, her costume design, her using the shield, lasso and bracelets, epic shit. The few lines she did have were a hit and miss, but mostly good, I liked her, I like her enough to want to see her film soon.

Let’s move on to the fucks up shall we?

Lex Luthor: The thing is, Jesse played Jesse, yet again, now the thing about this luthor is, he was just not what we expect from one of the most iconic DC villains ever made, heck comic book villains ever made. He was jesse trying to be heath’s joker, and failing miserably, now don’t get me wrong, I sort of liked what he had going on. Let me sum it up, if DC introduced jesse as a new villain called “Jesse” I would’ve been okay this is fine, but jesse isn’t anything near luthor, period.

The disjointed scenes: Well, if you’ve heard about how the movie is edited, you may have heard right, the 2hrs 30 mins flew by me and I didn’t feel 2 HRS 3O MINS passing, it was like short clips of different scenes, the movie needed to be longer, it really needed that, you were never convinced with a scene since it wasn’t given the proper time it required, don’t get me wrong, a lot of it was done very very well, but you could see some shit.

Doomsday: I’ve said this before, i’ll say it again, introducing doomsday was a bad idea, he needs an independent film, not like he was that bad or anything, he was fine, the fight sequence was great, he whooped ass, but he was unnecessary.

Now there are some more issues I have that will be considered spoilers, so i’m not gonna talk about them, will do that later.

So yeah guys overall I liked it, it wasn’t bad ,alright? Sure it didn’t deserve a standing ovation or anything, but I had a decent time with it. There were parts I was happy about and there were parts I thought felt unnecessary(?), I kind of get the whole “too much going around” thing, they are setting up a universe, so it kind of made sense, I just wish the scenes were longer, delete some scenes, add more length to existing ones.

BTW there is this one moment I giggled like an idiot, since the scene was cheesy af, liked it but yeah lel.

I really do wish we could feel more personal with the characters by the way, in the eyes of a DC fan this movie made sense right? But if you’re not into this shit, you won’t feel much attached, which i do think should’ve been focused on a bit, but who isn’t a comic book movie fan these days? right guys?

There wasn’t any forced or misplaced humor by the way, this movie can get dark, I shit you not, one of the elements of which I do have a problem with, but that’s a spoiler and I do hope they explain it in the upcoming movies.

Not rating this but go watch it, good movie overall. Fair share of issues but has some great moments too.
